Southern Alberta BOMPA President’s Christmas Message/Christmas Luncheon 2021

October 19, 2021

We have decided to proceed with our Christmas luncheon for 2021.

We have made a lot of changes because of Covid-19.

We are going to have our luncheon at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino on Dec 02 2021 which is an open to the public luncheon. We plan to reserve tables so we will be sitting as a group but be in a room with other groups. Everyone who attends will have to be fully vaccinated so please confirm that you are vaccinated when you buy your tickets because you will be asked to provide proof of vaccine at the door and have your id checked before you are allowed to enter. We will not be refunding any money to anyone who is turned away because you cannot or will not provide proof of vaccination at the door. We will not be having door prizes this year or any speeches. (so there is a bonus) These changes are for this year only and we will be looking at what happens for future years once we are safely past the end of Covid-19. (this year hopefully)

We just felt that a lot of our members are looking to visit with their fellow retirees and catch up and this would be a good way to do it at a reasonable price. $12.00 for lunch includes dessert, coffee and water. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase from the servers. Parking is free.

Our AGM board meeting will be April 27th  2022 at a location to be determined so please save the date.

The membership cost for being a BOMPA member has been suspended for this year and we will be discussing eliminating the membership fee going forward at the AGM.

If you are attending our sponsored events you can share pictures by sending in the pictures to  BMO Cyber Pensioners website  to share on your behalf so we can all share the memories of our events.

We are no longer able to print the newsletter or distribute it by paper mail. I would like to encourage you to email one of the board members to change over to email delivery. If you know of a retiree who does not have email please help them out by printing a copy for them.

Please have a great year and feel free to email or phone me anytime with ideas or suggestions at:  Phone 403-512-5775.

BMOFGPEFG Central Ontario Chapter - Executive Announcement

August 9, 2021

Hi, everyone, it has been a while since I last communicated with you and for that I apologize. I hope this email finds you all well and enjoying the warm sunny weather.

The last year and a half has been like no other, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This Pandemic has impacted all of us with seniors being particularly vulnerable. My hope is that you are all safe, have had the opportunity to get vaccinated, and have started to enjoy, slowly, some form of normality.

While we still have bridges to cross related to the Pandemic, I thought, on behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to share with you some details related to our chapter and next steps.

Terry Miller has been working with the IFL and passed on some of the items that I will share with you. Firstly let me offer my thanks to Terry for his efforts as well as to Denise Valleau and Ben Bocian for their on-going support regarding membership enquiries, during this difficult time.

  • The IFL remains closed until further developments, based on regulatory decisions.
  • The earliest we would be allowed to hold a quarterly meeting would be early 2022, again depending on guidelines and regulatory decisions.
  • Terry was able to tentatively reserve Friday, December 10th, 2021, for a Holiday/Christmas luncheon, which is once again dependent on opening of the IFL.

Should you have any questions about the chapter, please don't hesitate to contact us.

That's all for now, but as new information is made known to us we will share it with you.

In the meantime I hope you can spend quality time with family and friends, enjoy the warm weather and stay safe. I know that when we finally all gather we will have plenty of stories to tell each other.

My very best to you all and hope you all enjoyed the Olympics and how successful Canada was.

Gabby Winterstein, Chair BMOFGPE Central Ontario Chapter
